Andres Bardill is the Managing Director of Swiss Alpine Rescue (ARS), which is managed by Rega in a fiduciary capacity. Swiss Alpine Rescue organises terrestrial rescues in terrain that is difficult to access with around 3,500 volunteer rescuers. The Missions, Training and Central Services units of ARS ensure permanent operational readiness in the field of moun-tain rescue.
Curriculum vitae, Andres Bardill
Andres Bardill was born on 21 October 1964. In 1983, he completed his training as a forestry worker and then trained as a mountain guide. He earned his federal diploma as a district forester in 1989 and ran his own forestry company until taking up mountain guiding as his full-time job in 1994. At the end of 1996 he joined the army as a forester and trained the Swiss Armed Forces’ mountain specialists in Andermatt in his role as specialist instructor. He trained as a career officer at the Military Academy at ETH Zurich and then worked as an instructor at the recruit schools in Stans, Chur and Herisau until 2006.
After Swiss Alpine Rescue (ARS) was established by Rega and the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC), Andres Bardill became Managing Director of ARS in 2006. In this role, he built up the foundation and established it as a contact partner for authorities and partner organisations for rescue missions in terrain that is difficult to access.
In his leisure time, Andres Bardill took on a number of tasks at the SAC: From 1988 until 2003 he headed up the youth organisation of the SAC Prättigau Section from 2003 until 2008 he was President of the Youth Committee of the SAC and President of the SAC Prättigau Section from 2005 until 2015.
As Managing Director of Swiss Alpine Rescue, he has been a member of the Management Board of Rega since 1 April 2026.
Andres Bardill is married and has three sons.
