Sandro Schlegel is in charge of the Rega CEO Office, which is responsible for centralised, organisation-wide tasks and projects, including the purchase of new rescue helicopters and ambulance jets, the construction and maintenance of the infrastructure (e.g. operational bases and landing sites) and representing Rega’s interests on national and international bodies. The CEO Office also comprises the HR Service.
Curriculum vitae, Sandro Schlegel
Sandro Schlegel was born on 8 November 1986. After completing a commercial apprenticeship with a federal vocational baccalaureate, he earned a degree in business administration at the University of Liechtenstein. He then went on to earn a qualification as a Swiss certified accountant. In addition, he qualified as a Swiss mountain guide and worked as an independent guide for two years, primarily in the Alps and in the Himalayas. In parallel, he worked as a voluntary mountain rescuer for Swiss Alpine Rescue for around 18 years.
Between 2008 and 2019, Sandro Schlegel held a number of positions in the financial sector – initially as an accountant and later as project manager in the M&A division of Ernst & Young, and as a finance manager at Gategroup. In 2019 he moved to the Coltene Group, a listed med-tech company based in Switzerland, where he took on the role of Head of Group Controlling. In 2021 he moved within the company to the US, initially as Regional CFO for North America. In this function he was responsible, among other things, for Finance, HR and IT, oversaw the integration of a location and advanced the automation and digitalisation of processes. From 2023 to 2025, Sandro Schlegel was Managing Director of Coltene USA and in charge of around 300 employees. In this role he was also responsible for Research & Development, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Marketing & Sales, Production & Logistics and was a member of the extended Executive Management of the Coltene Group.
He has been a member of the Management Board and Head of the CEO Office since 1 January 2026.
He is married with two children.
