Rega – Swiss Air-Rescue

Roland Albrecht is in charge of the Medicine Division, which is responsible for upholding the medical standards and medical expertise and competence at Rega. As Medical Director, he bears the responsibility for the medical aspects of the operations carried out by Rega.


Curriculum vitae, Roland Albrecht

Roland Albrecht was born on 16 April 1963. He is a consultant for anaesthesia, intensive care and emergency medicine.

Having studied medicine at Basel University, he worked at the cantonal hospitals in Münsterlingen, St. Gallen, Frauenfeld and Solothurn, and also spent ten years at the University Hospital in Basel, ultimately as deputy head of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. From 2005 to 2008, Roland Albrecht was deputy head of the Department of Anaesthesia, Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine at Münsterlingen Cantonal Hospital.

Since 2008, he has held the position of Medical Director and member of the Management Board at Rega.

Roland Albrecht is a member of the Foundation Board and Medical Director of Swiss Alpine Rescue. He also belongs to the task force of the European Prehospital Research Alliance (EUHOREA). Furthermore, Roland Albrecht works for the Interverband für Rettungswesen (IVR) (Interassociation for rescue services), where he acts as a consultant for the recognition procedures for rescue services. In addition, he belongs to various academic professional associations (FMH, SGAR, SSICM, SGNOR). Besides his activities at Rega, he works part-time as a senior physician in the Anaesthesiology Clinic and the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at St. Gallen Cantonal Hospital.

Roland Albrecht is married and is the father of two children.
